What is the final product of the recording session?
Final products of our remote string recording sessions are individual studio tracks, sent to you in your preferred format. As we record strings live, you will get tracks from instrument or section mics as well as tracks from room mics. For example, for each take with a string quartet, you will get 4 tracks from instrument mics plus 2 tracks from room mics.
What do you need in order to start arranging strings?
In order to start arranging, send us your demo track, recorded to a click, as well as a reference to the type of sound & arrangement you’re looking for.
What do you need for a remote recording session?
In order to remotely record strings, you need to send us your demo track with and without midi strings, as well as strings score to be used for recording sessions. If you don’t have reliable scores ready, our arrangers can assist with that as well.
Do you mix live string tracks with MIDI string tracks?
No, we don’t. Companies and producers suggesting you to “thicken the sound” with MIDI string tracks do that because they don’t have capability to professionally record a live string section. They record each musician separately and then use MIDI tracks in order to thicken the sound. Don’t go down that alley. It’s an alley of lowered expectations.
What’s your turnaround time?
Usually we are able to complete string arrangement for an individual piece within 10 days or less, depending on amount of feedback. Recording violin, viola, cello or double bass usually takes 3 to 5 days. Recording quintet or quartet is usually done within 5 to 7 days from the order date. Recording a large string section depend on availability of musicians, usually we can organize them within two weeks from the order date.
When and how do I pay for your services?
All our services are paid upfront. In case of a bigger or longer project, payment can be split to several payment installations. Paypal, credit/debit cards or bank transfer are suitable forms of payment.
